PaperBeam is a private, offline-first document scanner. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and what choices you have when using the app.
PaperBeam lets you scan, import, edit, organize, sign, export, and share documents. The documents, images, PDFs, folders, tags, signatures, and app preferences you create are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share them.
PaperBeam does not require an account. The app does not include cloud sync, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or a backend service operated by us. We do not intentionally collect, sell, rent, or share your scanned documents or personal information.
PaperBeam stores document files and generated exports in the app's private storage area. Metadata such as document names, folders, tags, page order, signature settings, and preferences is stored locally. If you uninstall the app, the operating system may remove this local data unless your device backup system restores it.
PaperBeam may ask for camera access so you can scan documents, QR codes, or barcodes. It may also request access to photos or files only when you choose to import from your device. You can manage permissions in your device settings.
When you choose to share or export a PDF, image, QR result, or other content, PaperBeam hands that content to the system share sheet or another app you select. The privacy practices of the receiving app or service are controlled by that third party, not by PaperBeam.
PaperBeam uses platform capabilities and open-source packages to provide scanning, file picking, image processing, PDF generation, and sharing. App stores, operating systems, and selected destination apps may process information according to their own policies.
PaperBeam is a general productivity app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because files stay on your device by default, device security matters. Use your device lock, operating system updates, and backups carefully. No method of electronic storage is completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy as PaperBeam changes. The updated version will be included in the app and may also be published on a website for store review and user access.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact the developer through the support channel listed on PaperBeam's app store page or website.
