Pegasus Studio built Mushroom ID as an offline-first mobile app. This Service is provided by Pegasus Studio and is intended for use as is.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Mushroom ID.
Information You Choose to Provide
You may choose to take a photo, select one or more photos, import an image file, add notes or tags, and organize observations into collections. This information is used only to provide the features you request.
Mushroom ID processes selected and captured images on your device. Your photos and identification results are not sent to Pegasus Studio for identification.
Permissions
- Camera: used only when you choose to open the camera scanner. You can use gallery or file import without granting camera access.
- Photos or files: accessed only through the system picker when you choose an image. The app does not browse your photo library in the background.
Mushroom ID does not request location, contacts, microphone, phone, notification, or account permissions.
Information Stored on Your Device
The app may store settings, theme choice, ruler calibration, recent scans, selected mushroom matches, observation photos, notes, tags, collections, and bundled reference files locally on your device.
Unsaved scan history can be cleared from Settings. Saved observations can be deleted from My mushrooms. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes its locally stored information, subject to your device's backup and deletion behavior.
Offline Reference Information
Mushroom ID includes mushroom reference information inside the app. Searching and reading this guide does not send your search or selected profile to Pegasus Studio.
Third-Party Services
Mushroom ID uses third-party libraries and Android platform services for features such as camera access, photo and file selection, on-device object detection, image processing, sharing, and app distribution.
The app uses Google ML Kit for on-device object detection. Google states that input images and resulting outputs are processed on the device and are not sent to Google servers. Google also states that ML Kit may process limited app, device, installation, performance, and usage information for diagnostics and service improvement. Mushroom ID's release build is configured without Android internet permission, and the app does not include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, account, or cloud-backup services.

External Links and Sharing
Legal pages, the app store listing, and content you choose to share may open another app or website. Once you leave Mushroom ID, the privacy policy of that external service applies. Pegasus Studio is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party services.
Log and Diagnostic Information
Mushroom ID does not operate a server that receives your scans or app activity. Your operating system, app store, device manufacturer, or third-party libraries may independently process limited technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, performance, and error details under their own policies.
Cookies
The Mushroom ID app does not use cookies. This website or external websites linked from it may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies.
Security
We use reasonable measures to keep the app's information local and limit requested permissions. However, no device or electronic storage method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any observations stored on it.
Children's Privacy
Mushroom ID is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information to Pegasus Studio should contact us through the support channel listed on the app store page.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or legal requirements change. Updated terms take effect when posted on this page. Please review this page periodically.
